Augmented Reality is the combination of both the real world and virtual elements to enhance the real world with special effects. Since 2016, Augmented Reality (AR) has become a household name with popular releases such as Pokemon Go and Krikey. Since then, many types of AR mobile apps have enhanced our world and provided unique experiences.
One of the most popular use cases for Augmented Reality is mobile gaming. This capability allows you to immerse yourself in the environment of the game you play. A really great example of this in action is the popular AR game Pokemon Go where the characters appear in your camera view. Another great example is Krikey, specifically the Augmented Reality game Yaatra. In Yaatra, you are transported through your mobile camera into golden palaces and enchanted forests, as you join a quest to defeat the monster king. It is a rich narrative that is brought to life in an Augmented Reality mobile game by Krikey. You can see the trailer here and try the game out here.
With AR, you can give a customer access to a lot more information about a physical product than previously possible with a static image. This allows customers to see what a product would look like in their space. Companies like Ikea allow you to place furniture pieces in your space, scaled to size.
Another really cool way to use AR is through education. Experiencing and learning about new things is always more fun up close! With this technology it allows you to see cells up close in biology class or learn how the inside of a machine works first-hand with the MEL app without ever having to leave your classroom.
The future of Augmented Reality is constantly evolving. Being a part of the Augmented Reality revolution is very exciting and we look forward to bringing you along on our journey. Be sure to follow us on social media to stay updated on any new releases and stories on how we build AR experiences!
